Grammy-, Emmy- and Tony-nominated singer-songwriter-actor–wine lover Josh Groban is now collaborating with California’s Josh Cellars to rally people named Josh to get into the giving spirit of the holidays. Joshgiving runs through November, encouraging all … Joshes? Joshi? … to engage in “meaningful acts of thanks.”

Groban and Josh Cellars founder Joseph Carr kicked off their season of goodwill by donating $100,000 to Sing for Hope, a nonprofit that supports community arts programs—you’ve probably seen their popular brightly painted pianos in public spaces. Groban and Carr are encouraging all those named Josh to donate to various causes and organizations that resonate with them, such as hosting coat drives, fundraising for local bookstores or donating to a food bank.

“This is a great opportunity to give back, but also this is a wine I really love—it’s something I drink a lot,” Groban said in a virtual happy hour. “It started many, many years ago because someone said, ‘Hey, that’s your name! We should get a bottle of that.’ We did, and I have been drinking [Josh Cellars wines] ever since.”

Josh the winery is named for Carr’s father, Josh Carr, an Army veteran. To honor him, Carr will be donating $1 for every bottle sold through JoshCellars.com through the month of November to Pups 4 Patriots, an organization that rescues shelter dogs and trains them to assist veterans in need.

Ever the giver, this isn’t Groban’s first wine charity effort. He paired up with Halleck Vineyard in 2017 to support Groban’s arts charity, the Find Your Light Foundation.

You don’t have to be named Josh to celebrate Joshgiving, but if you are named Josh and the spirit of Joshgiving has moved you to engage in a meaningful and charitable way, be sure to let all your friends and Josh Cellars know by using the #Joshgiving hashtag. Three Josh-submitted charities will receive a portion of this year’s Joshgiving bounty from the winery. Happy Joshgiving to all!
