While heavy alcohol use is harmful for brain health, researchers have found that moderate wine drinkers enjoy a brain boost when compared to both teetotalers and heavy drinkers. As part of a varied diet and active lifestyle, modest wine consumption appears to improve memory, visuospatial ability, perceptual speed and other aspects of general cognition, while also decreasing the risk of Alzheimer’s, dementia, stroke and depression.
