The Chicks have a track record for forging their own path—lead singer Natalie Maines and sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer have never shied from speaking their mind. The 13-time Grammy-winning country music stars released an emotional new album in 2020, their first in over a decade, titled Gaslighter. It’s the kind of album that begs to be paired with a glass of wine, so The Chicks obliged, with the help of Sonoma’s Gundlach Bundschu family.

Gaslighter Wine Co. recently debuted with a 2021 California Pinot Noir Rosé ($25, for “when you’re in the mood for fresh aromas, lively acidity and making your own rules”); a Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc and a Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon are on the way. “Natalie, Emily and I have always loved great wine,” Maguire said in a press release. “Through close relationships with some Sonoma friends, we were offered the chance to do a partnership with the Gundlach Bundschu family. Many wine samples and bottle designs later, we are finally so proud to be offering our Gaslighter rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Cabernet to our families, friends, fans and discerning wine lovers!”

The wines are made and bottled at Bundschu’s winery in Sonoma Valley, with grapes from the Bundschu estate vineyard as well as other vineyards. “From the early days of this project, my family has been excited to work with The Chicks,” said Katie Bundschu, representing the family winery’s sixth generation. “Their clear vision for the brand, along with their creativity, quality standards and intentional approach to winemaking closely mirrors our own values. The Chicks have been part of each step with us, from sourcing decisions to wine style and, ultimately, determining the final blends.”

And there’s even more good news: Unlike fans of Gaslighter the album, fans of Gaslighter the wines won’t be waiting 14 years for the next release. The Pinot Noir ($65, “for when you’re calling the shots and owning your power”) and Sauvignon Blanc ($25) are slated to drop next month, and their Cabernet ($140, “for anyone who’s ever held their own in the face of chaos”) is coming this fall.
