From a life with seemingly few opportunities, Carlton McCoy forged one of endless possibilities. From winning a scholarship to the Culinary Institute of America to becoming the second Black American Master Sommelier, McCoy’s drive is what inspired Gaylon Lawrence to name him manager of wine operations at Heitz Cellar and his other winery properties, despite having no prior experience in such a role.
