Throughout the 2020 vintage, France’s most prominent wine region dealt with the types of extreme weather conditions that have become commonplace in recent years. This led to a year when Bordeaux’s top terroirs—the ones that could offset drought and get veraison completed without continued vegetative growth—performed best. The best wines show tremendous depth of fruit, with rich, broad palates that highlight warm earth and smoldering tobacco accents.
